HYBRID SYSTEM Materials: The Products Behind Every Layer

The HYBRID SYSTEM lining is built from a defined set of named products, layered from hot face to cold face. The materials below are the exact products used in the steady-state heat-transfer calculations run for the HYBRID SYSTEM across hot-face temperatures from 950°C to 1300°C (ASTM C680, 27 May 2025).

Hot-face boards. SoliBoard ULS (320 kg/m³) handles hot faces up to 950°C. From 1050°C hot face upward, two 25 mm layers of SoliBoard PCW Pure (300 kg/m³) take over.

Expansion joint blanket. Thin layers of SoliBlanket ULS 128 kg/m³ or Alfablanket 128 kg/m³ sit between board layers to absorb thermal expansion as the lining heats up.

Microporous core. Promalight 1200 (450 kg/m³) and Promalight 1000X (280 kg/m³) panels cover the intermediate temperature range, roughly 1000°C down to 500°C, where microporous insulation performs best.

Backup layer. A 50 mm Promasil 1000 (300 kg/m³) calcium silicate board brings the lining down to its cold-face target of 70°C or 80°C.

Total lining thickness scales with hot-face temperature: from 147 mm at 950°C hot face up to 254 mm at 1300°C (70°C cold-face target), while total weight rises from 42.34 kg/m² to 63.84 kg/m² over the same range.
